February 4, 2011
On January 26 a massive gaming conference was held in London and included a major and successful presentation by PvP Casino. Naturally, our CEO was there.
ICE Totally Gaming 2011 was one of this year’s largest gaming conferences. Interactive Solutions was there to check out upcoming trends and business possibilities, and gage the public’s response to the gaming portfolio of our friends at PvP Casino.
The conference was roughly composed of 2 areas. One area focused on online gambling and the other on more traditional land-based casino gambling. The section for traditional gambling was essentially packed with roulette wheel, flashy gaming table and even a large number of hybrid table suppliers - great looking tables with a bunch of built-in digital technology. The section also sported a massive amount of bling-bling and Las Vegas attitude.
In the section where I felt most at home (online gambling) a lot of exciting companies had exhibitions. It was truly cool to see and hear that so many Swedish companies (or international companies with Swedish affiliations) were attending. I managed to get to talk to a lot of people, including some from Jadestone, Cubeia, AHA-bingo, Netent and Ongame.
The branch is, without a doubt, fairly conservative, with few innovative products or services. Below is a list of what I thought was most exciting:
Jadestones Matrix
You could explain it as a browser for online gaming. You can easily divide up the screen; say with a live betting client in one window, a live match in another and a slot machine in a third, all at the same time. You can also choose to run 4 slot machines at the same time – losing 4 times as much per push (or winning 4 times as much per push). Quite innovative and pretty nicely packaged.
AHA-Bingo
It seems like AHA-bingo (from Uppsala) has a really good bingo offer. They have better figures than the competition and also seem to have a greater understanding of the social aspects of gaming in order to get better key figures.
PVPCasino
Have to mention our customers. They have a really awesome twist on traditional gaming and the fact that they will be fantastically packaged by us certainly doesn’t hurt anything.
There are lots of mobile solutions, but few good looking and usable ones. This area will continue to grow.
In general it seems as though the gaming branch is hungry for new gaming formats and models. It is trying to squeeze the most out of what already exists (Matrix – play more slots per push) and placing a huge emphasis on packaging. For example, Netents prize winning Boom Brothers is essentially an ordinary castle nicely packaged with and a good looking 3D film. Nice, but not particularly innovative!
